RISK MANAGEMENT AND PENSIONS REELING FOR SUSTAINABLE PENSION STRATEGIES Enos Ngutshane Board of Director IRF Chairperson of PRASA Provident fund

Risk Management and Pension reeling for sustainable Pension Strategies We operate in a Complex Employee Benefits Landscape. Trustees need to stay abreast of changes. Trustees need to rise to challenges. The focus of today’s session is geared towards empowering you as Trustees.

Glossary | IRFA Investment Committee Member Source: FSC Council Draft 2013 Annual Report Trustees are often faced with complex Technical Terms. As trustees we need to understand the environment that we operate in. We also need to ‘demystify’ investment concepts for our Members. The IRFA Investment Committee will discuss a proposed glossary of these terms.

Trustee accountability | Dave Crawford IRFA Trustee Services and Education Committee Chairperson What is the level of accountability that trustees have in relation to a Fund? The Pension Funds Adjudicator believes that Trustees have a high level of accountability. The FSB has also issued a Circular that proposes that sound governance of a Fund requires that trustees of the Fund TOGETHER must have the appropriate knowledge and skills. It is not necessary for all members to have the same level of skill. Dave Crawford will provide his views on the subject.

Transformation of the Industry | Asief Mohamed, ABSIP Representative IRFA is a partnership with (FSCC) and the Board deems it important that the IRFA participates and increases its involvement with the FSCC structures. The Association of Black Securities and Investment Professionals (APSIP) is a key stake holder to the FSCC and Asief Mohamed will provide more insight into.  Transformation of the Retirement Fund industry.  The transformation agenda going forward.  The required involvement of industry.

Legal Update | Anton Swanepoel IRFA Legal and Technical Committee Chairperson National Treasury has proposed significant changes in the way the Retirement Funds will be governed and structured into the future. Anton Swanepoel, Chairperson of the IRFA Legal and Technical Committee will provide an update on the current legislative environment.

Research and Benchmarking | Wayne van Rensburg IRFA Board Member and Research and Benchmarking Committee Chairperson The purpose of our Research and Benchmarking Committee is to inform decision making within the industry, by providing knowledge gained from Industry and member needs driven research. Wayne van Rensburg, Chairperson of the IRFA Research and Benchmarking Committee, will provide further insights, focussing on :  Risk Management.  Sustainable Strategies.
