Graduation Requirements 2018 Cohorts & Beyond Endorsements Related series of courses grouped together by interest or skill set Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Business and Industry Public Service Arts and Humanities Multi-Disciplinary Studies Provides students with in-depth knowledge of subject area Must select an endorsement in 9 th grade Districts and Charters are not required to offer all endorsements If only one offered, it must be multi-disciplinary studies

Graduation Requirements 2018 Cohorts & Beyond Endorsements To earn endorsement, students must complete curriculum requirements for endorsement: 4 th credit of math and science 2 additional elective credits Total Credits with Endorsement = 26

Graduation Requirements 2018 Cohorts & Beyond Enhancement – Distinguished Level of Achievement Students may earn Distinguished Level of Achievement and/or a Performance Acknowledgement for outstanding Performance Distinguished Level of Achievement must be earned to be admitted to a Texas public university under Top 10% automatic admission law

Graduation Requirements 2018 Cohorts & Beyond Enhancement Distinguished Level of Achievement Foundation Program Requirements 4 credits in math including Algebra II 4 credits in science At least 1 endorsement Performance Acknowledgement Dual Credit Course Bilingualism and Biliteracy PSAT, ACT’s Plan, SAT or ACT AP or IB exam Earn nationally or internationally recognized business or industry certificate or license

Graduation Requirements 2018 Cohorts & Beyond Credit Completion – Westlake Academy Applies to students entering ninth grade during the school year, or later, and may apply to students currently in grades nine through twelve, upon request Only students who have completed all Westlake Academy graduation requirements will receive a Westlake Academy diploma. Those requirements are as follows: Completion of a minimum of 26 credit hours as required by completing the curriculum requirements to graduate under the Foundation High School Program with a multi-disciplinary endorsement and a distinguished level of achievement. Satisfactory performance on required state end of course assessments. Completion of requirements to sit for and receive an IB Diploma

Westlake Academy GPA Calculation All courses taken at the secondary level for Westlake Academy which contain specific objectives determined by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and are not modified in content will be included when calculating a student’s grade point average. The following general criteria govern the process: Courses taken at the secondary level at Westlake Academy and other fully accredited schools and that are not modified in content will be included when calculating CGPA. CGPA will be calculated by the College Counselor and rounded up to the nearest hundredth. CGPA will be determined using semester grades for all courses from the 9th grade up to the time of reporting. Reporting dates will vary with college / scholarship due dates.

GPA Quality Points 2016 & 2017 Cohorts Westlake Academy will award ten (10) points to the final semester grade for any IB Diploma course. Raw grades obtained in the completion of the course must be a passing grade of 70% or above to receive the quality points. Raw semester grades are shown on a student’s report card and Academic Achievement Record (AAR)/Transcript. Quality points will be included in CGPA calculation and this weighted CGPA will appear on the student’s transcript. No quality points are awarded for non-Diploma courses.

GPA Quality Points 2018 Cohort & Beyond The Academy will award ten (10) points to the final semester grade: In G9-10, weighting will apply to all courses for high school credit in the following core content areas: Language A, Language B Science, Humanities, Math In G11-12, weighting will apply to all IB-DP courses. Raw grades obtained in the completion of the course must be a passing grade of 70% or above to receive the quality points. Raw semester grades are shown on a student’s report card and Academic Achievement Record (AAR)/Transcript. Quality points will be included in CGPA calculation, and this weighted CGPA will appear on the student’s transcript.

Westlake Academy Class Ranking Rank in Class – Rank in class is determined by CGPA and will be used for the purposes of: Obtaining automatic admission to Texas public universities based upon the uniform admissions policy & in accordance with the Texas Education Code. This information will be reported directly to institutions by Westlake Academy staff Determining Valedictorian and Salutatorian Outside of the above circumstances, Westlake Academy is a non-ranking high school

Westlake Academy Class Rank Determination Rank in class is determined by CGPA In accordance with Title 19 Texas Administrative Code, 5.5, high school rank for students seeking automatic admission is determined and reported as follows: Based on end of 11 th grade, middle of 12 th grade or at high school graduation; whichever is most recent at application deadline Top 10% of a high school class shall not contain more than 10% of total class size Rank shall be reported as a specific number out of a specific number total class size Rank shall be determined by the school or school district from which the student graduate or is expected to graduate

Westlake Academy Academic Recognition Valedictorian & Salutatorian Graduating seniors with top 2 CGPAs will be recognized In event of a tie for Valedictorian, the students will share the honor and no Salutatorian will be designated Must attend Westlake Academy for 6 consecutive semesters preceding graduation Superintendent or his/her designee may deem a student ineligible who is in violation of the following: Westlake Academy’s code of conduct and requirements Town code State code

Westlake Academy Academic Recognition Honor Graduates Graduating seniors with a CGPA of 90% or above will be determined to be an Honor Graduate & will be recognized at commencement Secondary Principal and his/her designee are granted the authority to include students whose CGPA is 90% or above at the end of the final semester
