Improving the quality of life for people in Dorset, now and for the future 1 Day Services The Council has to make changes to Day Services. They need to save some money. They need to offer more choice. The Council asked lots of people about how they could do this.

Improving the quality of life for people in Dorset, now and for the future 2 What people said People like day services being run by the Council. Day services could find better ways of saving money. Day services could find ways to make money. The buildings could be used much better. Day services help service users and their carers to stay well. More information can be found in the Cabinet report at consultation consultation

Improving the quality of life for people in Dorset, now and for the future 3 What the Council said The findings went into a report given to Cabinet on 14th December 2011 They said that: Day services will still be run by the council. Services will become like businesses and can try to make money, and save money. Services will work more with their local community. This is called ‘The Partnership Option’

Improving the quality of life for people in Dorset, now and for the future 4 What happens next Each day service will make a plan to: Make savings Make money Involve the community These plans will need to be ready by March The Cabinet will look at the plans in May They will decide whether the plans will work. They will decide whether the plans are fair. The Council will ask people what they think about the plan.
