Bell Ringer October 1 st Write down the components that are missing from graph A and B GRAPH A GRAPH B
1. Title 2. Labeled X axis 3. Labeled Y axis 4. Units (what do the numbers mean?)
1. Title 2. Labeled X axis 3. Labeled Y axis 4. Units (what do the numbers mean?) 5. Ledger (What do the colors mean?)
What to look for… Graphs MUST have all of the following: 1.Title 2.X-axis (independent variable)(Manipulated) 3.Y-axis (dependent variable) (Responding) 4.Labels of x/y axis and units 5.Plotted Data 6.Colors or Legend if necessary
Graphing Skills #1
Independent and Dependent Variables Variable= Something you are trying to measure Independent Variable(X)= Stands alone. I Change It Dependent Variable(Y)= Responds to the things around it. (Independent variable) causes a change in (Dependent Variable) EXAMPLE: (Time Spent Studying) causes a change in (Test Score)
What is the independent variable? What is the dependent variable?
Graphing Skills #2 and #3 Use the graphs from part #2 and come up with appropriate titles for the graphs
Graphing Practice
Tuesday October 2 nd Depending on length of the classes after the exam I may do this M&M activity with pd. 3-8 **I may add a few questions to go with this as well
M&M’s Graphing DO NOT EAT ANY OF YOUR M&M’S!!! 1.OPEN YOUR BAG OF M&M’S 2.LINE UP THE M&M’S ACCORDING TO COLOR 3.ON THE GRAPH PAPER I GAVE YOU, WRITE THE NUMBER YOU HAVE OF EACH COLOR M&M 4. CREATE A BAR GRAPH ACCORDING TO YOUR M&M COLOR RESULTS BE SURE TO INCLUDE: A) TITLE B) LABLED X AND Y AXIS C) UNITS D) LEDGER
BAR GRAPH Title Section Label or Ledger Labels Y axis X axis
