Project management and executive planning of activities Управление проектом и планирование выполнения работ М.А. Коробейникова Marina Korobeinikova Life – Third Countries GeoInforM

15-18/10/07 2nd Steering Committee meeting 29/11/07 The international IT conference integrating GeoInforM stakeholders (originally planned for 17/09/07 as a stakeholder seminar), Task 7 30/11/07 Completion of Informational and technical structure of the regional geological information base: local experts meeting, Task 2 30/11/07 Development of the 2nd Progress Report Life – Third Countries GeoInforM

Decisions of the previous SC meeting: 1. It was confirmed that the web site of the Project has to be updated at least 4 times a year, but normally according to needs. All partners are encouraged to provide materials to the web site to make it more interesting and versatile. 2. Dissemination of results. So far it was published twice in the Information Bulletin of the City of St. Petersburg. Besides, the information about the Project was placed in “Arcreview” – a magazine dedicated to projects and developments in the field of information technologies, in its special edition published for the international conference on Information Technologies As Basis for the Management in the Field of Nature Use and Environmental Protection, which was held in St. Petersburg on November 29 and 30, Life – Third Countries GeoInforM

Decisions of the previous SC meeting: 3. It was confirmed that the next meeting of the Steering Committee will take place in St. Petersburg during the week 16 (14 to 18 April,2008). 4. It was decided that the first visit of a GTK (Partner 2) to St. Petersburg to begin the work at the risk assessment will start together with the 3 rd SC Meeting and continue for another day or two. The Project budget has foreseen one visit of one expert for 10 days, but it was decided that more efficient would be to organize 2 or 3 shorter visits instead. Exact dates of the other proposed visits will be identified based on intermediary results of the joint work. Life – Third Countries GeoInforM

Decisions of the previous SC meeting: 5. The visit of two Italian experts (GWFM) was preliminarily planned for October, The discussions at the Project workshop in Milan showed that the visit in October 2007 would premature, as the basic data cannot be prepared by that time. A decision was made to organize this visit in parallel with the 3 rd SC Meeting. 6. The dates of the second visit of the Hamburg expert, Mr. Stueven, to St. Petersburg were discussed. A proposal was made by the representative of Partner 1 to plan this visit to May 2008, the exact dates to be specified at the 3 rd SC Meeting. Life – Third Countries GeoInforM

Decisions of the previous SC meeting: 7. The second seminar to inform the local Stakeholders about the Project was scheduled for March 17, 2008 in the original Workplan. It was decided to postpone this seminar to late spring or even to early autumn. The timing will be agreed upon at he 3 rd SC Meeting in April It was decided to submit the Mid-Term Report to the Commission on the 13 th of June, 2008, the cut-off date for reporting being the 31 st of May, It was decided to submit the Mid-Term Report to the Commission on the 13 th of June, 2008, the cut-off date for reporting being the 31 st of May, 2008 Life – Third Countries GeoInforM

The Working Groups. The following Working Groups (WG) and WG leaders were proposed by the Steering Committee: 1) WG on Regional Geological Information Database, (WG leader:Igor Bogatyrev, SC “Mineral” 2) WG on Managerial Tools for Decision-Making, WG leader: Nikolay Sorokin, the Committee, St. Petersburg 3) WG on Ground Water Flow Model, WG leader: Piergiorgio Valentini, Head of Environmental System Division, Province of Milan 4) WG on Geological Risks, WG leader: Jaana Jarva, GTK, Finland Life – Third Countries GeoInforM

The Project budget does not cover any special meetings for the WGs, so the WG members had joint discussions mainly by correspondence. Opportunities of other planned meetings (SC, study visits) were used by the WG members to meet and discuss their activities. Most active cooperation was done by WG3, because the development of a GWF Model implies a lot of discussions and work on preparation of relevant and compatible hydrogeological data. WG4 only started discussions and preparations because Geological Risks activities are scheduled later. Life – Third Countries GeoInforM

The 2nd Progress report -Provided to the EC and the monitoring team by November 30, according to the Workplan. - Narrative/technical part and financial reporting – statement of expenditures - Partners’ contributions to the technical part - Overall expenditures made by each partner were integrated in the total Project expenditure estimation - EC endorsed the Progress report. Advice to improve the web site and dissemination activities. Life – Third Countries GeoInforM

The 2nd Progress report EC response: 1.To give more details on how the European experience in geological control and licensing systems has been adapted to the needs of St. Petersburg. 2. To provide translations into English of some more parts of the Regional Fund of Geological Information description. Life – Third Countries GeoInforM
