What happened between 1916 and 1921? Half a million African Americans left the south and journeyed to cities internal movement of the a people in such a concentrated period of time in the history of the nation.

Why were many African Americans migrating North ? African Americans migrated north because they wanted to escape the violence in the south due to the racial tensions

Why did blacks want to keep the north working conditions a secret from whites? Blacks tended to keep the working conditions of work in the north due to the fact that employments will be given to the whites if they migrate to the north.

Time Period World War I came before the Great migration (28 July 1914 and lasted until 11 November 1918) When white solders were returning from the war they realized that their jobs have been taken by the black. Then the Americans wanted to scare the black away in a violent act. So this lead blacks to migrate to the North and Western sides of the country because the white scared them by killing their kind.
