Advanced Algebra Notes Section 6.5: Graphing Square Root and Cubic Root Functions The graphs of and are examples_____________________. In this lesson we will learn how to graph functions of the form and. radical functions Steps: 1. ______________________________________________________ 2. ______________________________________________________ 3. ______________________________________________________ Shift the x –coordinate from the parent function h units horizontally (Rt. Or LT.) Shift the y-coordinate from step 1, k units vertically (Up or Down). Examples: Multiply the y-coordinate from the parent function by the a-value. a : is a vertical compression or expansion h: shifts the graph horizontally rt./lt. k: shifts the graph vertically up/down.

Example 3: State the domain and range of the function in Example 1 and Example 2. Domain - Domain – Range - Range - x > -4 y > -1 All Real Numbers
