What is Chemistry? tthe study of the composition of matter and the changes it undergoes ccomes from the word alchemy refers to both an early form of the investigation of nature and an early philosophical and spiritual discipline, both combining elements of chemistry, metallurgy, physics, medicine, astrology, semiotics, mysticism, spiritualism, and art all as parts of one greater force ○e○example- making lead into gold aareas of chemistry one can study inorganic- chemicals without carbon organic- chemicals with carbon biochemistry- chemical processes in organisms physical chemistry- transfer of energy, rate… analytical- analyze composition of something
