Voice in Writing In writing, voice is the quality that keeps readers reading. Your ideas are what you have to say; your voice is how you say it.

Your writing ‘voice’ is as individual as your speaking voice. Your writing ‘voice’ is as individual as your speaking voice. Anyone who knows you and reads your work should be able to tell that you wrote it. Know your audience Writing with ‘voice’ means knowing your audience. You don’t talk the same way to your friends as you do to a baby or to your grandma. You use different words with different people.
