SCIENCE FAIR PROJECT Project title Your name | Your teacher’s name | Your school

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM Type your question here. (This is the question that your experiment answers.)

RESEARCH Summarize your research here in three to five significant facts: – 1 st point – 2 nd point – 3 rd point – 4 th point – 5 th point Citations (your sources of where you found the information) Include Author, Title of the work, Year published, and page # – 1 st source – 2 nd source

HYPOTHESIS Based on the research you have done, you will be writing an answer or solution – your best educated guess – to your question. Always write down your hypothesis before you begin your experiment. Use If (know) then (expect) because (connection to research) format.

PROCEDURE: MATERIALS Type a detailed list of the items you needed to complete your experiments. Be specific about the amounts used.

PROCEDURE: STEPS List all of the steps used in completing your experiment. Remember to number your steps. Extra: Add photos of your experiments.

VARIABLES Constants: These are the things that are kept the same throughout your experiment. Controlled variables: What you compare your final results to. Independent (manipulated) variable: The one variable that you purposely change and test. Dependent (measured) variable: The measure of change observed because of the independent variable. It is important to decide how you are going to measure the change.

DATA/OBSERVATIONS Write in declarative sentences what actually happened.

DATA/OBSERVATIONS It is easier to understand the data if it is put into a table or graph.. Make sure all data and units are clearly labeled.

DATA/OBSERVATIONS Photos/illustrations are also very useful

CONCLUSION Type a brief summary here of what you discovered based on the results of your experiments. You need to: 1) answer the question posed in the problem and 2) indicate whether or not the data supports the hypothesis and explain why or why not.
