Non-fiction Non-fictional writing is written based on true or factual information, and most often is written to teach or to inform the reader about the topic.
Non-fiction Types: Biography or Autobiography Encyclopedia or dictionary Essays Newspaper articles Textbooks Recipes Experiments How-tos
Non-fiction Biographies: Are written about a person’s life Have a plot Can have many chapters
Encyclopedias or dictionaries: Information is organized by topic Information is organized alphabetically Entries are short Used for research Non-fiction
Essays: Can be based on research Can be based on personal experience Can be read in one sitting Written in paragraph form Non-fiction
Newspaper articles: Usually short Can be read in one sitting Focus on one topic or main idea Non-fiction
Textbooks: Information organized by topic Used for reference May be organized by time (chronologically) Non-fiction
