Using Ratio Tables (Part 1: Creating equivalent ratios by adding on)

Definition A ratio table is a tool used to organize equivalent ratios.

Example A You can walk 6 miles in 2 hours Example A You can walk 6 miles in 2 hours. Make a table of equivalent ratios to show how far you can walk in 4 hours, 6 hours, 8 hours, and 10 hours.

Example A - ratio of 2 hours: 6 miles Time in Hours Distance in Miles

Example B Juan can read 9 pages in his book in 10 minutes. Make a table of equivalent ratios to find how many pages he can read in 20 minutes, 30 minutes, 40 minutes, 50 minutes, and 60 minutes.

Example B – ratio 9 pages: 10 minutes Number of Pages Time (in minutes)

Using Ratio Tables (Part 2: Creating equivalent ratios by multiplying)
