9th July 2009Christophe BAULT21 REVERSE ENGINEERING: TEST OF CATIA Conclusion: We have tested two kinds of scanning materials:  Laser trackers used for big surfaces, and installed far of targets. All these systems create cloud of points with noise. And to have a nice surface, we need to clean and filter cloud. Filters available on Catia are very basic, and a big part of work is to delete manually parasite points. This operation takes lot of time, and the result is not marvelous.  Portable laser used for small surfaces, because of the time spent to scan. The result is a very clean cloud, but it’s necessary to follow creation of cloud on PC during the scanning to avoid forgotten areas, and have big holes. With this type of cloud, Catia is an adequate software to re-create surfaces
