CHECKPOINTS IN THE CELL CYCLE

Checkpoints are events that must occur correctly before the cell divides If they do not happen correctly, the cell will not undergo mitosis 1.Does the cell have enough nutrients? 2.Has the DNA replicated correctly? 3.Is the DNA damaged? 4.Have the spindle fibres attached to the centomeres?

If any of the above checkpoints have not been met, the cell will be destroyed or repaired before mitosis. These checkpoints are checked by special proteins called CHECKPOINT PROTEINS
