National Citizenship: the rights and obligations that Canadians have because they live in Canada based on democracy and the respect for human dignity and freedom. These rights are mandated in Canada Human Rights Cofes and Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms: Equality rights, democratic rights, legal rights, mobility rights, language rights, minority language education rights, etc. Global Citizenship: new term but ancient concept. Someone who does not belong to a place, but played a role in improving society and making life better; (* Doesn’t mean they denounce their local/national citizenship but place that second to their sense of global citizenship). The collective responsibility that all citizens have towards each other and the planet: Recognizing and condemning injustice and inequality having a desire and ability to work against injustice and inequality wherever it is seen thinking and behaving in ways that value Earth and safeguard the future for those who do believing individuals can make a difference engaging with distant places and different cultures exploring what links them to other people, places and cultures and learning from, as well as about, other people, places and cultures
