Learning Outcomes Identify the location of the Central Processing Unit (CPU), expansion slots, RAM slots, path and connectors on the motherboard Identify the types of expansion cards and their locations on the motherboard. Explains the functions of each components in a motherboard – the central processing unit – the expansion slots – the expansion card – the RAM slots – the ports and connectors

The Motherboard This is the motherboard and its components.

This is the location of the Central Processing Unit or the CPU.

Location of the Expansion Slots These are the Peripheral Component Interconnected (PCI) expansion slots. In addition, the Industry Standard Architecture (ISA) expansion slots are also the components of the motherboard.

Images of Expansion slots

Location of the Expansion Cards These are the expansion cards. The expansion cards are slotted in the expansion slots.

Location of the RAM slots This is called RAM or Random Access Memory. RAM is the memory of the computer.

Here is where the memory of computer is placed. They are called the RAM slots.

Location of The Ports This is the location of the Ports.

Connectors Connectors are plugged into these ports.

Location of the Connectors The connectors connects to the ports. For example the printer ports matches its connectors. All computer components are connected to its respective ports by a connector.
