EXAMPLES OF GESTALT YOU MAY SEE EVERYDAY. BY, WILLIAM A STRANGE A day with Gestalt

A Presentation on Gestalt Principles… Theory of visual perception… Through a normal day…

In the Bedroom… The body, unfinished, Closure theory. The L, G, and dot in red, creating face, figure & background theory. The “E” of the word, tilted in place, Proximity theory.

The Kitchen… The letter “O” replaced with shape, Similarity theory. The lines creating hills and sun, Figure & background. The words, connected, Grouping theory. The Sun overlapping the “O”, Adding Dimension theory.

Living Room… The “P”, incomplete, Closure theory. The “S” with colors, Continuity theory. The “Z”, created by the blue shape, Surrounding theory.

The Driveway… Examples of both Figure & Background theory, and Surrounding theory.

Fast Food… The offset black shapes, Adding Dimension theory. The disconnected yellow line, Continuity theory. The word “Jack”, Surrounding theory with Added Dimension theory.

At school… Continuity connects the “M”, Closure creates the word. The incomplete Apple, closure. The “SB” and “CC”, grouped by Proximity. The two shapes creating mountains, Closure.

At Work… Surrounding. Grouping and Similarity. Surrounding and Figure & Background.

In fashion… Again, Figure & Background, and Surrounding. The “E”, Closure theory. Proximity theory and Grouping theory. Continuity theory.

On television… Surrounding, similarity, closure. Grouping, Proximity, Similarity, Continuity, Surrounding. Surrounding, Adding Dimension. Surrounding.

And finally dessert! Continuity. Surrounding. Surrounding, Grouping, and proximity.
