Ideologies of Change By Ellie Rasmussen and Ashley Flitton

First of all, what is an Ideology? An ideology is a system of ideas and ideals, esp. one that forms the basis of economic or political theory and policy. So basically, it’s a way of living life. All based on your political views.

There are 5 types of Ideologies of change Liberalism, Socialism, and Nationalism. All of these topics went in a variety of directions based on the different beliefs of the peoples.

Liberalism This consisted mostly of businessmen. They strived to reach a modern, efficient self government. They were in favor of freedom of press and freedom of assembly. Also, they hoped for a constitution, Laissez Faire policies, free trade, and low tariffs. Lastly, they were against unions.

Socialism Sought our economic equality for all. Was against the ideas of Laissez Faires. They believed that the rich were making too much on the poor’s hard work. They wanted the benefits to be distributed a little more equally. Rather than the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer.

Nationalism Very organized, France and Great Britain made many other countries jealous of their organization. Britain and France had pride for their country which made other countries want to organize themselves.

Conclusion These Ideologies of change were powerful influences. Many still exist today, whether they’re still called the same thing or not. The basic needs that they sought after were often very different. Most wanted equality and fairness, which has been a struggle throughout history.
