New Skills: 2.20 Geometry: Identify, describe, and sort 3 dimensional concrete figures by numbers of faces, shape of faces, edges, and corners Geometry: Identify and create figures, symmetric along a line Geometry: Using concrete materials compare and contrast 2-D and 3-D figures. 2.4 Fractions: Identify and write representations for halves, thirds, fourths, eighths, and tenths Measurement of Time: Tell and write time to the quarter hour with use of analog and digital clocks Probability and Statistics: Data Collection. Record data from experiments and predict events. Science Continuation and development of skills taught during the second quarter. New Skills: 2.2 Magnets: The student will investigate and understand that natural and artificial magnets have certain characteristics and attract specific types of metals. 2.6 Weather: Understand basic types, changes, and patterns of weather. Key concepts include temperature, wind, precipitation, drought, flood, and storms, as well as the uses and importance of measuring and recording weather data. 2.1 The student will observe, conduct, and respond to scientific investigations, reasoning, and logic. Social Science Continuation and development of skills taught during the second quarter. New Skills: 2.11 Identify the following people as Famous Americans: George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Susan B. Anthony, Helen Keller, Jackie Robinson, and Martin Luther King Jr. as Americans whose contributions improved the lives of other Americans. Review Harriet Tubman and George Washington Carver. 2.7 Economics: Describe the differences between natural resources (water, soil, wood, and coal), human resources (people at work), and capital resources (machines, tools, and buildings). 2.8 Distinguish between the use of barter and money in the exchange for goods and services. 2.9 Explain that scarcity (limited resources) requires people to make choices about producing and consuming goods and services.
