NO Contact lacrosse game STX BALL NO Contact lacrosse game

5 Basic Rules All players must be free to move as in soccer and basketball- body contact results in penalty shot Players must keep both hands on the stick at all times- violation results in penalty shot The ball must be passed over the center line- violation results in change of possession 2 passes must be made before making an attempt to shoot at the goal (after the center line pass)- violation results in change of possession Play should be continuous- no stalling- violation results in change of possession

Other Rules/Procedures The crease area is around the goal Players are NOT allowed inside crease at any time- shots at the goal must be taken OUTSIDE of the crease Penalty shots are taken behind the center line Only two-thirds of the players are allowed offense at any one time NO GOALIE When a goal is scored: the team that was scored on is immediately given possession in their defensive end

Terms/Skills Scooping: skill used to pick ball up from the ground using stick Throwing: when passing, use an arm motion similar to the overhand throwing motion used when throwing a ball Catching: move to the ball, eyes on the ball, watch ball all the way into the pocket/basket- the key is to “give” a little as the ball reaches the stick (arms and wrists relaxed, do not tense up) Cradling: allows you to keep the ball in your pocket while moving/maneuvering around the field
