Cover Letter This year I was fortunate enough to learn many different things in science class; some interesting, some not. But this year was mostly focused on geology and elements, both of which I enjoyed, but more so elements rather than geology. My favorite part of science would have to be 60 Second Science, mostly because it allows me to share my opinions with the class, and hear other’s views on the subject. My least favorite part would have to be the lab we had on Sea Floor Spreading. I disliked having to plot each and every coordinate, and in the end it didn’t really help me understand the topic better. But it did give me some exposure and a new experience, and it was a little neat to see the end product.

On a scale of 1-5 (5 being the best) rate yourself on your ability to complete all the assignments for class. Why? I would give myself a four in this category. I always do my homework, and I normally always turn it in on time. Though sometimes if I don’t turn it in, I tend to forget about it and turn it in months later. I plan to do much better on this, as I have a knack for procrastinating things I don’t want to do. It’s not like I don’t do the project at all; I normally have them saved onto my computer, but forget to print it out or put it in my backpack. It’s a terrible habit, so I plan to get rid of it.

On a scale of 1-5 (5 being the best) rate yourself on your class time effort & positive contributions to class discussion(s). Why? I give myself a five in this subject. I’m always actively participating in the 60 Second Sciences, and I ask questions often if I don’t understand something. I love to share my opinion and learn other people’s stand points on things, so I believe that I always am contributing to the discussion. I always put in as much effort as I can into most of the projects, unless it’s something I absolutely hate, but even then, I still try.

On a scale of 1-5 (5 being the best) rate yourself on your ability to work with others in class. Why? I give myself a five, seeing as I am really flexible and am really open to anyone. I try to be as nice as I can if people suggest a stupid idea, and most of the time I give suggestive criticism. Of course, I prefer working with friends, because I know their skills and limits. I’m always open to opinions, and I try to incorporate other’s ideas into the final product. I really think that I work well with others.

On a scale of 1-5 (5 being the best) describe items you want to improve upon for next quarter/year. Why? Technically you can’t really rate items you’re describing, so I’m just going to ignore the rating on this one and the next one. Next quarter I would really like to improve my opinion on geology. Lately I’ve been a little close-minded on the subject, as I never really enjoyed it, and simply gave up on being entertained by it. The whole thing became a huge forced march. Really, this could be spanned into improving my initiative on every subject I dislike. I love science, but geology just tends to bore me, when I prefer stuff like cells and biology. On a scale of 1-5 (5 being the best) describe what when well in this school year. Why? I think the labs went very well. During my seventh grade year, all the eighth graders said that you got tons of homework in science, so I was pretty worried. But we haven’t gotten that much work outside of class, and the labs are always easy to manage. I’ve really enjoyed the 60 Second Sciences, even though I was told they were a living nightmare to do. Overall, I’ve really liked science this year.
