Nordplus Nordic languages Prepared by Jolanta Sirtautiene 2014

A project - Building Language Bridges  Project period: August, 2014 – June, 2016  Coordinating institution: Kilen school (NORWAY)  Coordinator: Hammeren, Tom Richard  Partners: Iceland, Denmark, Norway, Lithuania and Estonia.

Main objectives (1):  To promote Nordic languages and broaden cultural understanding among Baltic and Nordic countries;  To create the package of teaching methodology based on visual interactive methods and Information and communication technologies;  To increase pupils’ motivation and self-esteem in learning the Nordic languages.

Main objectives (2):  To strengthen the language comprehension of Danish and Norwegian among children and youth;  To improve the quality and increase the teachers’ competence in teaching the Nordic languages;  To exchange best pedagogical practices and experiences.

Building Language Bridges Danish Norwegian

Contributions and duties (1):  Lithuanian school - Norwegian language  Estonian and Icelandic schools - the Danish language.  Norwegian school will present the old Finnish and Norwegian culture.  The pupils of two Danish schools will develop their knowledge about the Norwegian language.

Contributions and duties (2): A FINAL RESULT:  The creation of the package of interactive ICT activities (teaching grammar, vocabulary, speaking, listening and writing).  A final product of teaching methodology will be printed and used as a tool for teaching in all countries.

Contributions and duties (3): CountryDuties Denmark Grammar package for A1/A2 or even B1 level and interactive exercises of teaching writing (Danish and Norwegian). Iceland A package of reading and speaking skills of Danish language. Norway Grammar package and speaking models and listening of Norwegian for A1/A2 or even B1 level (using ICT as a tool and visual material). Estonia A package of interactive activities based on the method of "learning by doing" (songs, dance, flash mob, theatre, etc.). (Danish language). Lithuania The exercises based on vocabulary and writing skills of Norwegian language and didactic games.

Contributions and duties (4): The activities: November 2014 – June 2015 November A performance of historical event (e.g. the legend of the town, the story of monarchs or great dukes). December Christmas Carols (Mother tongue and a Nordic language) January A typical day at school (a collage with text, a wall at school with a photo story etc.) February A cookbook with recipes from different countries (taking pictures of the dishes and sharing on the website) March A teacher visit to ESTONIA.

Contributions and duties (5): April Uploading interactive ICT activities (teaching grammar, vocabulary, speaking, listening and writing). May My Spare time (paintings, drawings, photo story, paper clip, art exhibition ect. ). June (1) A teacher visit to Denmark. Evaluation of the first year: A questionnaire. All interactive activities are uploaded on the internet. June (2) Acting out a famous fairytale (Mother tongue and Nordic language).
