Goals Gain an awareness of the AdvancED Standards for quality systems Identify quality evidence to support Self Assessment Explore how to use the Self Assessment as a tool for continuous improvement

Applied Learning What are standards? What resonates in your mind when you think about standards? What are examples of standards?

The Standards © 2010 AdvancED

The Standards The AdvancED Standards: Describe conditions to achieve higher levels of student performance Guide organizational effectiveness and continuous improvement efforts

The Standards The standards include: Statements (5) Indicators (33+)  Focus on internal review  Rated individually  Contain multiple concepts Quality evidence (multiple sources) Performance Rubrics  Four levels

The Standards

Applied Learning 1.Work in pairs or teams 2.Study a standard indicator(s) and its performance levels 3.What practices, processes, and conditions would typically be indicative of the performance level? Knowing and understanding the standards

Applied Learning 1.What are the key words that resonate with you for this standard? 2.Which indicators are most challenging for your institution? Why? Knowing and understanding the standards

Applied Learning What is High Quality Evidence?

Self Assessment Based on AdvancED Standards for Quality Engages institution’s community Identify evidence, data, information, documented results Identify areas of strengths; opportunities for improvement

Self Assessment Standard Narrative What were the areas of strength you noted? What were the areas in need of improvement? What actions are you implementing to sustain the areas of strength? What plans are you making to improve in areas of need?
