Review – tips for the reading section 1.Do the sentence completion activities first, then the passage-based reading sections. 2.Be sure to read passages carefully. 3.Do not jump from passage to passage. Read them in order. 4.Read the questions before you read the passage. 5.Mark up the passage as you read: underline important facts, ideas and statistics 6.If you’re a slow reader, skim the passages concentrating on the topic sentences, evidence and conclusions.

7.Summarize longer passages as you read. Maybe even make quick notes in the margin. 8.Always read the italicized paragraph before each passage. 9.Avoid extremes: Always, never, only, absolutely, etc. 10.Read for the main idea and focus on that – don’t get lost in the details 11.For sentence completion questions, put each answer in the blank and see if it fits. 12.Eliminate the answers that are obviously wrong
