FAIR TRADE AND SOCIAL PROJECTS Cultural Hall

Cultural Hall Culture is an important aspect of life which also gives identity to a community. In this estate, community halls are hired for weddings and other cultural events to celebrate festivals and functions at a grand scale. To the estate community this meant travelling a fair distance to halls in Haputale and Bandarawale, an expensive affair. Thus, a decision was made by the members to establish a cultural Hall using the Fair Trade premium funds. The project resulted in a saving of approximately Rs.10,000 per event. The construction began in 2005 and completed in 2008.
