What’s your favourite pancake topping?!

 Traditionally Christians used up their ‘luxury’ ingredients before Lent, a period of fasting.  Pancakes are a good way of doing this so the day is often called ‘Pancake Day’.  The word ‘Shrove’ comes from the word ‘SHRIVE’ which means to confess sins (to be sorry or repent).  Shrove Tuesday is the day before Ash Wednesday which marks the start of Lent for Christians.

 If you’re eating pancakes this Shrove Tuesday, think about the symbolism behind them, whether or not you are a Christian.  Is there anything you need to be sorry for? How will you show you are sorry (repent)?  Is there anything you could give up to help others? Money? Help? Time?
