WAC Written Analysis and Communication Objective: As the name suggests, to learn to analyze and then communicate what you have analyzed. You will be assigned a case which will comprise a business situation or problem. You have to analyze the said situation and prepare a report that adheres strictly to the given format and the allowed number of words. This will be an individual exercise.

Situational Analysis A summary of the salient points of the case, ending with a brief description of the over-all problem Problem Statement A clear, unambiguous, crisp statement of the actual problem that you need to address Options Bulletised, the various options available to the org. (non-overlapping)

Criteria These are the business imperatives (revenue/ profitability/ brand image etc.) Evaluation of options The pros and cons of each option that you have listed earlier Recommendation Pick the option that you feel is the best bet under the circumstances – say why in short. Action plan Bulletise the set of actions that need to be taken to implement your recommendation. No. of words (from Situational analysis to Action plan) – /- 10%. Mention the word count at the bottom of the page

Exhibits Usually pertain to the Situation analysis part. Number the exhibits and refer to them in the appropriate part of the text. Use exhibits to illustrate the point you are making, or when you feel that graphical/ tabular representation will draw out the salient points.

Administration All of you will be given the same case. It is very easy to see if there has been collaborative effort – both/ multiple parties will lose heavily. Plus the whole purpose of using this exercise to learn is lost. Deadline, as the name suggest, is a deadline. You are dead if you don’t meet the deadline. Feel free to ask questions
