2 NGDA Data Themes and Data Sets The FGDC Standards WG is responsible for reviewing project proposals, committee draft standards, and final draft standards for National Geospatial Data Asset (NGDA) datasets as part of portfolio management. making recommendations to the CG.

3 Recent Meetings The FGDC Standards WG last met on June 18, The topics discussed at this meeting include: Recommendation for FGDC endorsement: final draft Part 2, Digital orthomagery (revised), of the Geographic Information Framework Standard For information:  2015 ASPRS Positional Accuracy Standards for Digital Geospatial Data  Infrastructure for Spatial Information in the European Community (INSPIRE)  Geoplatform.gov: a standards perspective

4 FGDC Standards Activities Part 2, Digital orthoimagery (revised) of the Geographic Information Framework Data Content Standard supports exchange of orthoimagery data. It provides a base on which to collect, register, and integrate digital orthoimagery data accurately. Part 2 specifies data content and logical structure for description and interchange of digital orthoimagery; provides guidelines for acquisition and processing of imagery; specifies documentation of those acquisition and processing steps; focuses on images sensed in the visible to near infrared portion of the electromagnetic spectrum; stresses complete and accurate reporting of information relating to quality control and standards employed in testing orthoimagery data; and includes a data dictionary based on its conceptual schema. This revision primarily replaces analog camera references with digital sensors and recognizes satellite technology for digital orthoimagery production. This standard was revised with support from members of the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS).

5 Recent Developments/Projects The FGDC Steering Committee has endorsed the following standards: Aeronautical Information Exchange Model (AIXM) 5.1 ISO/IEC :2004 Technical Corrigenda 1:2007 and 2:2008 JPEG 2000 OGC GeoPackage 1.0 Geopolitical Entities, Names, and Codes (GENC) Standard Edition 2 GeoRSS-Simple and GeoRSS-GML

6 Next Meeting The next meeting of the FGDC Standards WG will be held the week of September 21-25, 2015 Topics to be discussed at the next meeting include: FGDC Standards WG charter (revised) Implementation Plan for NSDI Strategic Plan GEO Standards & Interoperability Forum Review and recommendations for standards documents submitted by Friday, August 7.

7 Next Steps In the coming months, the FGDC Standards WG hopes to accomplish/discuss: Tasks identified in standards task plan based on NSDI Strategic Plan – TBD. Advancement of projects for NGDA dataset standards through the FGDC standards process. Recommendation of external standards for CG approval for FGDC endorsement. Recommendation of SWG charter (revised) for CG approval
