Jake Gerte Ms. DelGrego Junior English CP November 7 th, 2011

 I was born in Salem Village, Massachusetts on July 11, 1653  I was hanged for being a convicted witch on July 19, 1692

 My father was John Solart who had a good deal of money.  However, my father's estate was tied up in litigation that left me and my family nothing  I married a poor servant named Daniel Poole who died in debt in  My second marriage was to William Good  We had to work on paying off my 1 st husbands debts.  We ended up homeless

 As a women I received no formal education and didn’t have a career  Instead I learned how to tend to the house, cook, wash, clean, and sew.

 Everybody in town pretty much hated me because I was always begging for food and shelter for my family and I because we lost all our money and land paying debts that wern’t even ours  I was identified as a witch by Tituba and brought to trial

 Many other people testified against me as well  Much of the reason why was because of my temper  I often scolded people who refused to help me in my time of need

 Abigail Williams and Betty Parris told people that they were bewitched by me  They went into fits during the trial where they would moan, rock, fall to the ground and their eyes would roll back

 My own four year old daughter testified against me and said she saw me talking to the devil  My husband also told the court the mark of the devil was on my shoulder  Tituba also said that I ordered cats to attack the girls wich would explain the bites on their arms  Also others said they saw me flying to witch meetings on a broom stick

 Needless to say I was convicted and sentenced to death  On the day of the hanging all of the other women remained quite but I yelled that I was innocent
