Imagery Imagery is used to describe things It uses the five sense Sight Taste Touch Smell Sound
Examples The bright red balloon shot upwards into the sky with a squeal. The humongous gray elephant pounded his feet as he ran. I could smell Granny’s delicious biscuits cooking and could almost taste the butter and honey I would later put on mine.
Examples The milk smelled like yesterday’s trash and looked like yesterday’s potatoes. The crash was so loud that it sounded as if a train had come straight through our kitchen.
Class Practice Add imagery to the following: The piece of metal was hot. The Christmas tree was decorated. The pizza was real good.
More Practice The thorns hurt. The kid was in pain. The restaurant cooked some good food. Mrs. Noname’s class was not behaving well.
