 “And when He had taken some bread and given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, ‘This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.’” Luke 22:19

 “And when He had taken some bread and given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, ‘This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.’” Luke 22:19

  We eat the Lord’s body metaphorically. Example of apostles before Jesus… Jesus used figurative imagery referring to Himself (John 6:48; 10:9; 15:1).  Jesus is our spiritual food, our source of spiritual and eternal life. Unleavened bread memorializes Jesus’ body.

  He gave His flesh to be crucified to atone for sinners. A body was prepared for Him (Heb. 10:5) Philippians 2:7; John 1:14; 2 John 7 Came to give His life a ransom (Mark 10:45). Gave Himself into enemies’ hands (John 18:4-12) Offered His body once for all (Heb. 10:10). Jesus gave His body for us (Luke 22:19; 1 Corinthians 11:24).

  Lived to complete His Father’s mission: Subjected Himself to cruel treatment (Isa. 53:4-5; Matt. 26:67; 27:26-35). Nails were hammered through His hands and feet (Zech. 12:10; Psa. 22:16; John 20:25, 27). He died (John 19:30; Jam. 2:26). A slain Lamb stood victoriously (Rev. 5:6). Remember the body of Jesus Christ that was given for us.

 “While they were eating, Jesus took some bread, and after a blessing, He broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, ‘Take, eat; this is My body.’” Matthew 26:26
