My Flower Baby By: Rafael Arevalo

My Baby… He is a baby boy named Jaime, but we call him by his nickname Jay. He was born on April 10, 2010, weighing 18-2, 4 pounds. He is very athletic, he likes music and videogames, and he is very mature.

Taking care of my flour baby over these last three days, made my days very interesting, happy, funny, and stressful days. Taking care of little Jaime and taking him everywhere I went was a tough job. At school, it was a very fun and entertaining activity. It was fun comparing and having me and my friend’s babies all together playing. Having many people ask if they could babysit my baby was very funny. Though it began as a very fun and happy project, it became a harder job, and became a very stressful and challenging project. Having to carry him all around school was very stressful, he was very heavy, and having to also carry my heavy backpack made it worse. After some time, all those people who asked me if they could babysit my baby began to stress me. I got frustrated and angry whenever they would ask me a lot of times after I said no. At school it was fun, but after some time it became stressful. At home things were calmer. Not having to carry him long distances was very nice. I could take care of him without having many people bothering me or him, except for my sister who also wanted to babysit him. Everyone in my family was entertained watching me take care of a flour bag baby. But there was also a small problem; I couldn’t do many things that I wanted to because I had to take care of him. I couldn’t go out with my friends, or couldn’t go to sleep without taking care of him first. And every time I would complain, my family would tell me that taking care of me was worse, and that I will have a more demanding and stressful job whenever I have my own babies. The baby project became a little stressful at home, but not as much as it became at school.

Though it became a stressful and demanding project, I learned a lot from it. I didn’t know how tough and demanding taking care of a baby is. Now that I know how demanding it is, I can now understand all that my parents, and many others, have gone through, and I will be able to thank them for their hard work on taking care of me and my sister. These were some very interesting, fun and stressful days, but I know we all learned a lot from it.
