My Action Research Project Green Education Policy What would best practice Green Education Policy look like?

Identified Need:  We need to begin to practice what we preach and create connections with authentic learning and promoting lifestyle changes within students of today.  At present we are giving students mixed messages between what we say and what we practice as a profession.  We need to look at a much more detailed framework of delivering sustainability as part of educational policy, planning, curriculum and building design. What would best practice Green Education Policy look like? Green Education Policy

Identified Need:  At present there is no over-arching vision in Australia regarding Green Education policy.  Schools should not have to seek additional funding for solar panels or water tanks or community gardens…  This should be built into the whole package of a Green Education Policy.  Just as every school is funded for its ESL learners, or PSD students, every school should be funded for sound green design and given the facilities to live and practice sustainable living rather than just teaching it as theory. Green Education Policy What would best practice Green Education Policy look like?

Assumptions WW e are working from the assumption that climate change is real. WW e are working from the assumption that action is urgent. WW e are working from the assumption that schools play a vital and transformative role in action about climate change. WW e are working from the assumption that we have a responsibility to future generations to allow them access to discussions regarding how their learning environment should reflect the needs of the future. What would best practice Green Education Policy look like? Green Education Policy

Before the conference can take place, my role is to:  Audit current state green education policies and initiatives,  Audit current federal green education policies and initiatives, and  Investigate best practice in Green Education Policy in Australia and around the world. What would best practice Green Education Policy look like? Green Education Policy

In Order To: MM ake recommendations regarding what best practice in Green Education Policy in Australia would look like….and…. What would best practice Green Education Policy look like? Green Education Policy

Organise a Conference II am working with Liz Ash and our ultimate goal is to organise a conference with participants who are policy makers, infrastructure planners, teachers and students. Green Education Policy What would best practice Green Education Policy look like?
