Obedience In Times Of Change Joshua 1

“I will be with you” (v.5) Even though this is a huge change, God would not abandon them We are a chosen people (1 Pet. 2:4-5, 9-10) Heb. 13:5-6 quotes Josh. 1:5 and Ps. 118:6 God has prepared so much for us ◦ 1 Cor. 2:9; Isa. 64:1-4

“Be strong and courageous” (vv.6,9) This is directly tied to the assurance that God was with him “strong in the Lord and in the power of His might” (Eph. 6:10-13) Boldness (Eph. 6:14-20) “Be strong, and do it” (1 Chron. 28:10)

“Do not turn away from the law” (vv.7,8) Strength and courage means obeying God’s law The word is accessible and understandable (Deut. 30:11-14) The choice was laid before Israel (and us!) (Deut. 30:15-16) Train the heart with the word (Matt. 12:33-37)
