Evaluating Gibson

Evidence bank  Pick at least 3 studies you can use to develop an evaluative paragraph  Try and pick out ones that demonstrate different aspects of the theory

Comparison with Gregory  What does Gibson explain better than Gregory  What does Gregory explain better than Gibson  Turn to an evaluative paragraph.

IDA  Outline any useful application of the theory, e.g. road markings  Debates –  nature vs nurture  Reductionism  Turn to evaluative paragraph or two.

Check on learning  Can you now describe the direct theory? Including key terms of optic array, optic flow, invariants and affordances.  Can you do this for at least 4 points?  Can you push yourself to 6 points maybe by using research to illustrate the theory?  Can you evaluate the theory using at least 3 studies?  Can you compare it to Gregory to say why it is better or worse than it? (NB you can use this paragraph to evaluate Gregory too)  Can you write about at least ONE IDA theme in relation to this theory?
