Dividing Decimals By Whole Numbers JMA

Dividing with decimals works exactly like regular long division Dividing with decimals works exactly like regular long division......with just one difference. Step 1: Set up the problem the usual way AND solve. Step 2: Put the decimal point in the answer directly above the decimal point in the dividend (the number being divided)

Divide 9.1 by 7 Set up the problem the usual way. Put the decimal point in the answer directly above the decimal point in the dividend

Dividing Decimals By Decimal Numbers JMA

To dividing by decimals you need to change the number we are dividing by to a whole number… Step 1: Shift the decimal point of both numbers to the right until the divisor becomes a whole number. Step 2: Divide as usual (Ignore any decimal point in the “house”) Step 3: If there is a decimal still in the house, move it up directly in the quotient as it is in the dividend

Divide 5.39 by 1.1 2. Ignore the decimal in the house and DIVIDE. 1. Shift the decimal point of both numbers to the right until the divisor becomes a whole number. 3. Put the decimal point in the answer directly above the decimal point in the dividend
