The Brazilian Regulatory Committee was established by the National Council on Metrology, Standardization and Industrial Quality (Conmetro) on June 9 th, 2005 by Resolution N o 2 (Published in the Official Gazette on June 13 th, 2005).
Its duties are: Proposing and reviewing policies, strategies and directives on regulation; Promoting activities, which contribute to the understanding of the regulatory concepts; Harmonizing the relation between technical standards and technical regulations; Defining the basic elements to be stated in technical regulations; Solving eventual issues regarding regulation which interfaces standardization.
