How Science Works Pgs

Ask a question Don’t ever stop asking WHY?

Form a hypothesis A proposed explanation based on observations

Set up a CONTROLLED experiment Factors in an experiment that can change are called = Variables Ex: temperature, amount of light, time, etc.) In a controlled exp. – only 1 variable should be changed at a time

Independent vs. Dependant The variable that is deliberately manipulated = Independent variable The variable that changes in response to the manipulated variable is called the dependant variable.

Results and Conclusions Data must be organized in a way that allows for the identification of patterns Drawing conclusions: use the data gathered to determine if the hypothesis is supported or refuted.
