Transitioning from 8 th to Freshman

Graduation Requirements Twenty-four credits are required for graduation from CHS. A credit of 0.5 is given for each class per semester. There are seven class periods each day. Students may earn up to seven credits during the school year-3.5 credits per semester. No credit is given for a grade of “F.” No credit is given for library aide. Students may only be a library aide for two semesters during high school. If a student receives a failing grade in English, math, science, or social studies, required classes will generally have to be taken again. The make-up classes take the place of electives until they are completed successfully.

Valedictorian Must meet all the requirements for an Honor Graduate Must have completed a minimum of six honors courses Must have weighted cumulative GPA of 4.1 or higher

Finding GPA Each letter grade is worth a specific number of points A=4 B=3 C=2 D=1 F=0 Assign a point value to each grade. Determine the number of letter grades in each category and multiply by the number above. Add one point for each grade in an honors, Pre-AP, or AP course (for a weighted GPA). Add up the total number of points and divide by the number of grades.

Autry Technology Center Junior and Senior students may choose to enroll in Autry Tech. Autry Tech Counselors use semester grades, test scores, and attendance records to determine acceptance. If a student is enrolled at Autry Tech, he or she will enroll at CHS in at least three classes (four is most beneficial), two of which must be core courses. It is important to plan ahead. Complete required courses as soon as possible to avoid scheduling conflicts.

Concurrent Enrollment Any Junior or Senior student who is in good standing for graduation may be admitted provisionally to a college or university as a special student if he/she meets the admission standards. Admission standards based on minimum ACT/SAT score, GPA and Class Rank. Concurrent students may only enroll in curricular areas where they have met the ACT assessment requirements for college placement.

ASVAB test-AFQT How important is the ASVAB test? Your scores in four critical areas—Arithmetic Reasoning, Word Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension and Qualifying Mathematics Knowledge -- count towards your Armed Forces Test (AFQT) score. The AFQT score determines whether you're qualified to enlist in the U.S. military. Your scores in the other areas of the ASVAB will determine how qualified you are for certain military occupational specialties and enlistment bonuses. A high score will improve your chances of getting the specialty/job and signing bonus you want.

EOI Tests Every student shall demonstrate mastery of the state academic content standards in the following subject areas in order to graduate from a public high school with a standard diploma: 1. Algebra I 2. English II 3. Two of the following five: Algebra II; Biology I; English III; Geometry; US History

Alternate Tests Oklahoma law allows for students to use alternate tests approved by the State Board of Education to meet the ACE Testing Requirements. Specific scores are required to meet proficiency requirements. Alternate tests include, but are not limited to: ACT PSAT SAT

Oklahoma’s Promise The student promises to complete the program's high school requirements and meet the college requirements. If all program requirements are met, the state of Oklahoma promises to help pay: Tuition at an Oklahoma public two-year college or four-year university OR a portion of tuition at an accredited Oklahoma private college or university OR a portion of tuition for courses at public technology centers that are approved for credit toward an Associate in Applied Science degree at a public college The scholarship does not cover fees, books, supplies, or room and board. Students may apply beginning in the 8th grade and no later than the end of 10th grade in order to be considered for the Oklahoma's Promise scholarship.
