Mauro Donega’ - CDF collaboration meeting February 3, 2006 B d,s ->h 1 h 2 : BR, CP asymmetries, and lifetimes S. Budroni, S. Donati, M. Donega’, S. Giagu, M. Morello, G. Punzi, D. Tonelli CDF Collaboration Meeting February 3, 2006   Notes: 6175, 6356, 6357, 6453, 7066, 7978, 8057 (+linked notes on dE/dx calibrations and isolation studies)

Mauro Donega’ - CDF collaboration meeting February 3, 2006 Physics motivations B d,s ->h 1 h 2 = Bd->k , Bd-> , Bs->KK, Bs->K  Accessible to B factories: Bd->k , Bd->  Only at TeVatron (until >2007): Bs->KK, Bs-> K  Possible measurements: Today: direct CP asymmetry in Bd->k , Bs-> K  (counting experiment) Future: CP asymmetry in mixing Bd-> , Bs->KK (requires time dependent analysis) Short term goal: Using Bd->k , Bd->  BR, constrain the relevant hadronic penguin parameters. Long term goal: combine time-dependent Bd->  and Bs->KK asymmetries (+other external input) to measure    Tree Penguin PHYSICAL REVIEW D 66, Physics Letters B –320

Mauro Donega’ - CDF collaboration meeting February 3, 2006 Physics motivation (cont’d) B s described as a two states system. Evolution through Schroedinger equation: off diagonal terms ->mixing M 12,  12,  = arg(- M 12 /  12 ) What we measure:  m = M H –M L ~ 2|M 12 |  =  L –  H ~ 2|  12 |cos(  ) SM:  ~0 -> CP eigenstates ~ mass eigenstates B s -> is predicted to be 95% CP even => c  (Bs->KK) ~1/  L Bs->KK lifetime combined with FS (  ) can give . Measurement of Bs->KK lifetime can be strongly affected by new CP violating physics => sensitivity to New Physics _
