INNOVATION CHAIN Research Infrastructures are facilities where basic research as well as applied research are interacting to generate innovations for our daily life

Some key messages regarding fostering the innovation potential of Research Infrastructures under Horizon 2020  Research infrastructures as the early adopters of technology  Research Infrastructures in the centre of a non-linear innovation process: 1. Supporting basic research and applied research in the innovation chain 2. Being the basis for research questions coming up in demonstration of market implementation of new developments and technologies  Research Infrastructures should be more accessible to users, customers from industry (R&D partnerships with industry)  Research Infrastructures as qualified testing centres for development standards and for certification
