Parts of an Experiment Trials Controls Variables

Controls  Factors in an experiment that are held constant (the same) from one part of the experiment to another

Trials  The number of times an observation or measurement is made during an experiment

What Parts Are There?  1. Variables: factors that change in an experiment experiment  2 Types:  Independent Variable  Dependent Variable

Independent Variable  The variable that is purposefully changed or manipulated in an experiment This is where you make the desired changes to test their results!!! Get it...change?

Dependent Variable  Variable that changes in response to manipulations of the independent variable The outcome of the dependent variable DEPENDS on the independent variable!!! Get it, depends?
