OBJECTIVES IDENTIFY TRAITS OF GOOD CHARACTER EXPLAIN THE ROLE OF TOLERANCE DESCRIBE THE QUALITIES OF A GOOD CITIZEN

CHARACTER What is character? Character is reflected by you appearance and by what you say and do. character The way in which a person thinks, feels, and acts

WHAT INFLUENCES OR CHARACTER? Parents or Guardians Think of your parents or guardians and the influence they had on you even as a little kid. Did you try to act like mom or dad.

WHAT INFLUENCES OR CHARACTER? STORIES Most stories have a lesson or moral to learn from. How many of you have been influenced from a story from a family member of friend?

WHAT INFLUENCES OUR CHARACTER? LIFE EXPIERENCES Sometimes experience is the way we learn best. Also think about sports and the lessons and values taught.

WHAT INFLUENCES OUR CHARACTER? ROLE MODELS Role models can be a great example in showing us how to act and behave. Who is your role model?

TRAITS TO GOOD CHARACTER There are 6 good traits to good character. TRUSTWORTHINESS RESPECT RESPONSIBILITY CARING FAIRNESS CITIZENSHIP

TRUSTWORTHINESS Trustworthy people have integrity. integrity The quality of doing what you know is right Trustworthy people are honest and reliable.

RESPECT When you show respect you show concern for others. Tolerance is a tool for fighting prejudice. tolerance The ability to accept other people as they are prejudice An opinion or fear formed without having facts or firsthand knowledge

RESPONSIBILITY When someone is responsible they accept accountability. accountability A willingness to answer for your actions and decisions YOU DO NOT BLAME OTHERS FOR YOUR MISTAKES!!!!!

CARING When caring about someone you are able to show empathy. empathy The ability to understand and show concern for another person’s feelings

CARING CARING PEOPLE Do not seek revenge! Forgive Are givers

FAIRNESS Someone who is fair is able to able to look at the situation from both point of views.

CITIZENSHIP Citizenship is the way you behave in your community. Your community is your school, neighborhood, and city.

CITIZENSHIP GOOD CITIZENS Respect their community and neighbors Protect the environment Make the community a better place for future generations.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO? You are the first to arrive at class. When you sit down you notice an iPod on the floor. What would you do?

WHAT WOULD YOU DO? You are walking past the school and one of your friends wants to break in the school. What would you do?

WHAT WOULD YOU DO? You are at lunch and someone cuts in front of you in line? What would you do?
