Chinese Grid Activities Update Guoqing Li NRSCC/CEODE Present to WGISS-27, Toulouse, France May, 2009

Outlines  Technology under developing  Gird-based Applications

Technology under developing  Grid Entity (GE) A suit of local middle ware and tools to deploy, manage, monitor providers’ resources in form of services.  Engineering level  Grid Entity is not the basic grid component  Grid Entity is used for the assembling of grid resources (web-services) within one institute.  Grid Entity is implemented with the form of WPS container and toolkits

 There are three GEs in SIG  P-N : Processing Grid Entity Node  D-N : Data service Grid Entity Node  M-N : Mapping Grid Entity Node

 For developer, they can use GE framework to  quickly package their classes (C++, JAVA)  simply assemble other web-service into grid system  easily manage (registry and publish ) all their web-services on grid level  fully support the WCS, WFS and WPS compatible interface

WPS framework based GE service

Grid-Based Applications  Applications in three areas:  Global Change Data Portal  Disaster Mitigation Collaboration Platform  Computing Grid for Spatial Information Processing  All the above projects will be constructed with GE

Global Change Data Portal 1 China GC satellite data portal 2GC Data Portal (China) 3 ABCC data collaboration platform 5 Sino-Europe Dragon Data Sharing Portal 4 GC Data Portal (APN) - GC-APWG GC Data Portal V1.0 Kicked-off approved proposed

 China GC satellite data portal (V1.0)  Data collection VISSR : FY-2C , FY-2D MVIRS : FY-1D MODIS : Terra, Aqua AVHRR: NOAA 16/17/18  Scan range: China and East Asia  Archived data level: L1B  Daily data update (average) 20GB

English Version will be found in Version 2

 The next version of China GC satellite data portal (V2.0) is planned to be published at the end of September,  Add more satellite data types, as well as airborne data.  Extend scan range to Asia and global level, through inter-grid connection with other web-service based data resources.  Use simple cross-grid security control.  Provide on-demand data, include sub-image, mosaic, format and projection transferring.  Provide on-demand processing production, beginning with about 10 types of MODIS high level information productions (based on HPC).

 GC Data Portal (China): Global Change Geo-science Data Cooperation Platform  Four scientific data types: Imagery data (space-borne and air-borne data) In-situ data Model data Modeling simulation data  Connecting 10 institutes and universities
