S.S China Project By: Annie Na

East Asia’s Land and Water China is a very large country and a very populated country. China is very mountainous country. It has the highest mountain in the world called The Himalayas. The scientist think that about 50 million years ago, India collided into China so hard that it created The Himalayas. In China, there are still volcanoes and earthquakes, and so it’s landscapes changes a lot.

Climates and Vegetation China makes dust storms that goes all over the world. Some Chinese haven’t treated their forests right. Some Chinese plants are strong enough to survive the difference of the temperature or the weather. Chinese are affected by the change of the climate. For example, when China’s Huang He floods, the Chinese citizens have a hard time.

Natural Resources Did you know that factories in China are used for oil? If you didn’t, then her you learned something new!! There are twice as much freshwater fish caught in China than the other country in East Asia.

Historic Traditions The teaching of Confucius was the first to be spread. The British, Dutch, Russians, and the Japanese began to rule China’s lands but the Chinese did not have enough power to go against them, and so the U.S. announced that China should trade like the other countries.

People and Culture When the communism got into power in China, there was a law that a woman couldn’t get more than one baby. There are 50 dynasties in China. Han is the first largest dynasty in China.

Transforming Itself When the communist took over China, it was poor and manufacturing used little machines. The communist wanted to increase the production as fast as possible, and so they just used untrained workers. In 1966, Mao Zedong made a radical policy called the Cultural Revolution. Some students formed a gang called a Red Guard. They would destroy some ancient buildings and imprison some Chinese artists, professors, and doctors.

Did You Know?? Did you know that Great wall of China is longer than the distance of San Francisco and New York?? Did you know that Terracotta Army in China’s purpose was to help rule another empire with Shi Huang Di in the afterlife? Consequently, they are also sometimes referred to as "Qin's Armies". Some people think that the army was also built for protection.
