The CMMC Strategic Plan Committee CHAIR – VIVIANA CRIADO

Purpose of the CMMC Strategic Plan Committee 1.To carry out those deliverables related to the review of California Reducing Disparities Project (CRDP) reports produced by the other CRDP partners.  This included: The Special Population Reports by the Strategic Planning Workgroups (SPWs) The CRDP Strategic Plan

Purpose of the CMMC Strategic Plan Committee Continued 2. To support the implementation of the CRDP Strategic Plan  This included developing recommendations regarding: Funding recommendations Method for roll-out of the strategies and approaches Plan for the solicitation of input from multicultural communities around the state Plan for selection and support of the entities to conduct evaluation of identified strategies and approaches

Purpose of the CMMC Strategic Plan Committee Continued RFP One – CMMC RFP Two - 5 Strategic Planning Workgroups did a Special Population Report RFP Three - the CRDP Strategic Plan.

An Initial Review was Performed  On the Special Population Reports by the Strategic Plan Workgroups that focused on: 1. The African American Communities 2. The Asian/Pacific Island Communities 3. The Latino Communities 4. The Native American Communities 5. The LGBTQ Communities

Initial Review of Special Population Reports Continued  The Strategic Plan Committee first developed a process and tool to review the Special Population reports by CMMC members. This review was very controlled as no drafts of the reports had been released to the public yet.  By June 2012, the CMMC completed the initial review of all the Special Population Reports and written feedback was completed and delivered to the SPWs and Office of Health Equity.

Initial Review of the CRDP Draft Strategic Plan  The CMMC Strategic Plan Committee then worked in collaboration with California Pan-Ethnic Health Network (CPEHN) - who was the contractor awarded RFP 3 – to work out a process for an initial review of the CRDP Draft Strategic Plan.

What is in the CRDP Strategic Plan? Taken from the original RFP #3:  “The CRDP Strategic Plan will provide the public mental health system with community-identified strategies and interventions that will result in relevant and meaningful culturally and linguistically competent services and programs to meet the unique needs of the five racial, ethnic and cultural populations identified for the CRDP.”  “It is expected that once the CRDP Strategic Plan is completed, the practices and strategies identified will be funded over four years and evaluated to demonstrate the effectiveness of this community- defined evidence in reducing disparities.”

What is in the CRDP Strategic Plan? Continued  The CRDP Facilitator/Writer will coordinate with each of the five Strategic Planning Workgroups (SPWs) and compile the five Special Population Reports into one comprehensive CRDP Strategic Plan.  The Facilitator/Writer will also collaborate with the CMMC, facilitating productive and task-oriented discussions regarding the CRDP Strategic Plan.  The Strategic Plan will highlight common themes in all reports, but also point out differences in recommendations.

The CMMC’s Initial Review of the CRDP Strategic Plan  There was a special meeting held on August 26-27, 2013 in order for the members of the CMMC to do an initial review of the draft CRDP Strategic Plan.  The CMMC Strategic Plan Committee was instrumental in designing the process, including training and tools for this review. Since the public is allowed at all CMMC meetings, members of the public were also allowed to participate also, but strict procedures were put into place to prevent the distribution of the document outside the in-person meeting.  Once the initial review of the CRDP Strategic Plan was completed, written feedback was sent to the Facilitator/Writer and to the Office of Health Equity.

Other Accomplishments of the Strategic Plan Committee  The Committee has also been the leader in facilitating consensus among CMMC members so that important correspondence to State Departments and Agencies was drafted and timely sent on behalf of the entire CMMC.  This correspondence covered topics such as: Delay in the release of the CRDP Strategic Plan Transition issues from Phase 1 to Phase 2 of the CRDP Continuation of the CMMC
