USSR had a COMMAND style Govt Therefore few personal freedoms In 1987 Gorbachev relaxed a number of controls. (This relaxation of economic rules was called “Perestroika” (meaning restructuring). LO1:- Why did the USSR lose its position as Global Superpower?

Alongside “ Perestroika” was a second reform called “ Glasnost”. “Glasnost” (meaning openness ) allowed the people of the USSR to have greater freedoms of speech, the press, and political parties. LO1:- Why did the USSR lose its position as Global Superpower?
