Technology Student of the Year Project 2012/13 – Design and Technology  For the first time, this year, the D & T Department have decided to create a project that incorporates all areas of DT for the TSOY competition. All work completed will be considered for this year’s prizes.

Design Brief Option 1  A new Michelin star standard high end restaurant is to open in Ibstock, your task as the designer is to develop some of the products that will help to make this restaurant the best in its class. Choose from any number of the following items to design in order to achieve this. Option 2  A new ‘Fast Food Diner’ style restaurant is to open in Ibstock, your task as the designer is to develop some of the products that will help to make this restaurant the best in its class and beat any competition. Choose from any number of the following items to design in order to achieve this.

The 6 Options The items you may wish to choose from are……. 1) Company Logo  A logo that would represent the company and be placed on all products associated with the restaurant. This could be both hand drawn and produced using ICT based graphics programs. 2) Restaurant Menu  A menu showing the items on sale at your restaurant, this would be on all tables. This could be both hand drawn and produced using ICT based graphics programs. 3) Restaurant/Shop Front  Drawings or a scale model displaying how the front of the restaurant would look.

The 6 Options (Continued) 4) Uniforms  Drawings, models or ICT graphics based drawings of the uniforms to be used by the staff in the restaurant. This may include Chefs, Waiters and Managers outfits. 5) Interior Design  Design the inside of the restaurant showing its layout and colour schemes. This may be done with either: models, CAD drawings or sketches. 6) Food for the Menu  Preparation of some of the dishes from the restaurant menu, photographed.

Information  You may wish to complete just one, maybe two or even three of the options mentioned.
