The Apollo Alliance A coalition of labor, business, environmental, and community leaders working to catalyze a clean energy revolution that will put millions of Americans to work in a new generation of high-quality, green-collar jobs. Inspired by the Apollo space program, we promote investments in energy efficiency, clean power, mass transit, next-generation vehicles, and emerging technology, as well as in education and training. Working together, we will reduce carbon emissions and oil imports, spur domestic job growth, and position America to thrive in the 21st century economy. Working together, we will reduce carbon emissions and oil imports, spur domestic job growth, and position America to thrive in the 21st century economy.

Apollo ARRA Principle #1 Create Quality Green-Collar Jobs Create Quality Green-Collar Jobs and Economic Growth Recovery Act funds should be directed toward creating jobs that are well-paid, career track, and contribute directly to preserving or enhancing environmental quality.

Apollo ARRA Principle #2 Ensure Transparency and Accountability Ensure Transparency and Accountability President Obama and Congress tied Recovery Act funding to an unprecedented level of transparency and public accountability. Monitor New York State stimulus investments at:

Apollo ARRA Principle #3 Benefit All Workers and Communities Benefit All Workers and Communities While hard times have fallen on every corner of the state, some communities have suffered more than others. As we build a new clean energy economy, New York should target investments toward creating jobs and environmental benefits in rural areas, urban centers and communities of color.

Apollo ARRA Principle #4 Rebuild America Clean and Green Rebuild America Clean and Green Every recovery dollar should be spent in a way that promotes climate stability and energy security by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and our overall dependence on foreign oil. Target transportation dollars to upgrade and expand public transit; rebuild the urban core; apply energy efficiency and green building standards.

ARRA Apollo Principle #5 Create Green Jobs at Scale Create Green Jobs at Scale Build projects large enough to create multiple jobs and training opportunities. Combining stimulus programs and scaling up projects will create opportunities such as energy efficiency retrofitting, low-income weatherization and solar panel installation. This will allow job training programs to create career ladders.
