Welcome!  Please hand in homework assignment 3  I will walk around to check progress on your CM log

Activity 1  If you would like to share what you did for your homework assignment 3, please let me know; I would like 2-3 people to share  Once finished, discuss with your group about the questions on the following slide; each group will share their answers for one of them

Questions 1. Why would the talking through the multiplication table be used to get into the heads of Meg and Charles (pg )? What does the word “obliquely” mean? 2. What do you think of the phrase “like and equal are not the same thing at all!” (pg. 154) in relation to math? Give an example of this. 3. What are your reactions to IT and the town overall? What predictions do you have for the remainder of the novel? Defend your answer.

Activity 2  Spend some time reading the rest of the novel; whatever you do not finish in class will be left for homework  As a group, read chapter 10 together, taking turns and stopping to discuss as needed  As you continue reading on your own, take notes for a short discussion with your group at the end of the class
